Cream Tarte with fruits

The french word tarte means pie or tart, this desert is thought to have either come from a tradition of layering food, or to be a product of medieval pie making.

This cream tart recipe is based of a crispy dough in the bottom adding to it sweet and smooth light filling which is the base texture of this delicious tart

with an open top to be covered and decorated with a variety of fruits like strawberries, raspberries kiwis and many more. I have tried some many different recipes but this one stays my children’s favorite as well as mine

INGREDIENTS:

The dough:

1/2 cup melted butter

1 1/2 cup flour

The cream:

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp whiskey or rum

zest of a lemon

1 1/2 cups milk

1 1/2 heaped tbsp flour

1/2 cup & 1 tbsp sugar

PREPARATION:

Preheat the oven to to 375 degrees. Mix the melted butter with the flour, knead with your fingers until you have a dough. Roll out the dough between two wax paper until it is less than half a cm thick then transfer it into a round 22 cm pie tray, decorate the edge of the dough with a fork by pressing firmly or with the the dull side of the fine or pinch with your fingers. Bake it in the oven for 20 to 25 mins or until light golden ( adjusting the time depends the kind of pan you’re using). At the meantime prepare the pudding , in a medium size pot put all the ingredients of the cream together mix very well. Bring to a boil over medium heat to low, cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes.

When the tart dough is ready, pour the cream on top, set it aside then let it cool in the fridge for few hours. Decorate it with the variety of fruits you desire.

This tart is so special, desirable and simple at the same time. I have been making this delightful pie for my guests and family for years and they all enjoy every bit of it.
