Lasagna: I know you are going to say why this Italian dish. It is one of my family's favorite pasta dishes that's why I am going to present to you tabkhelmama's amazing lasagna recipe.

It is the yummy word I used to hear from my kids as soon as they know the lunch is Mama's Lasagna. It will always be my joy to prepare it.

Prep. time: 50 mins

Cooking time: 45 to 50 mins

Serves: 6


300 gr. Mozzarella cheese shredded

200 gr. Swiss cheese

around 13 to 14 lasagna pasta sheets oven ready

The red sauce:

1 tbsp oil

one medium onion chopped

3 garlic gloves chopped

750 grams strained tomato like Pomi

350 grams ground beef

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp all spice

1 tsp oregano

2 tbsp grated parmesan

White sauce:

3 cups milk

1/2 cup cooking cream

2 tbsp flour

2 tbsp corn starch

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp white pepper

PREPARATION: Put the oil in a large skillet, add the chopped onion and garlic cloves. Stir over medium heat for few mins. then add the ground beef and fry until really done, sprinkle the allspice. Now pour the tomato sauce seasoning with salt and oregano, cover and let it simmer over low heat for 10 mins. then add the Parmesan cheese.

How to prepare the white sauce: In a small pot pour the milk, add the rest of the ingredients. Stir using a whisk over medium heat until it boils for 2 mins.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a rectangular oven pan 36 x 23. Pour a bit of the meat sauce just to cover the bottom of the pan . Arrange around 4 of the lasagna sheets in the bottom of the baking dish. Spread 1/3 of the red sauce on top then cover with the third of the white sauce. Now sprinkle half of the cheese covering the sauce. Repeat putting layers in the same order except avoid sprinkling cheese in the middle. Bake in the oven on the middle rack for 45 mins or until the top is light golden.

Set it aside for few minutes and serve. This lasagna recipe is the absolute pasta dish to enjoy with your family and on a special occasion too. Isn't wonderful to have a home made delightful lasagna. It is very easy to prepare so give it a try and bon appetit!!!
